Admissions

Policy

Admission to St. Martin School is based on space availability, indicators that the child will be successful (such as test scores and prior report cards) and the family's agreement to abide by the rules and requirements of the school.  Priority admission is given to siblings and St. Martin parishioners.  The administration and teachers, in accordance with the Diocese of San Jose policies, make the final decision as to whether a child will be admitted to St. Martin School.

Conditions

No student shall be admitted to St. Martin School unless there is clear indication of the ability to function successfully.  Students will be admitted on a probationary basis for the first year.

How to Apply & Register

Application packets are available all year.  Please note that St. Martin School starts accepting applications for the following school year at our annual Open House (see our calendar for the correct date).  Applications will not be accepted prior to that date.  If a student is seeking admittance during the current school year please call the office for assistance.

1. Please read and be familiar with our Admission Policy and Tuition Rates
2. Complete the Student Application Form for each student you wish to enroll.

Mail or deliver to the school office a non-refundable application fee of $50 per student along with the following documentation:
  • Student Application Form (one per student)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Last Report Card (if applicable) and standardized testing or preschool recommendation

Testing for incoming students in all grades is schedule by the school in order to verify basic skills and to determine placement.  Parents will be contacted for an appointment.

Acceptance letters are mailed out within 2 weeks of testing results.  Upon acceptance, a non-refundable instructional fee of $350 and PTG fee of $50 per family is required to secure your child's place for the school year.  If these fees are not received with in two weeks your child will be placed on a waiting list.
6. Once the school receives the above fees the Admissions Packet will be mailed to you.

Admission Priorities

All incoming students will be admitted as follows:

Priority 1: Siblings of children currently enrolled in St. Martin School.
Priority 2: Students whose families are registered and active parishioners, who regularly attend Mass at St. Martin Church, and whose registration forms are submitted by the required dates.
Priority 3: Transferring Catholic school students whose families register and become active parishioners.
Priority 4: Catholic school students from outside the parish who will support the school
Priority 5: Other students who by their behavior and attitude demonstrate an acceptance of the St. Martin School philosophy will be admitted.

Admission Criteria

Following the priority determination listed above, admission to St. Martin School will be determined by these criteria:

Criteria 1: The applicant must be four years of age by September 1st and must be potty trained.
Criteria 2: The applicant family must fill out all required forms and provide proof that the child has had a physical examination within the previous 12 months.
Criteria 3: It is of utmost importance that parents understand and agree to support St. Martin School.
